BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING

The meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at 6:22 pm at Sharon High School Room 602 with Chairman Walter “Joe” Roach, Selectman, Selectman Richard A. Powell and Town Administrator Benjamin Puritz

 

Approval of minutes 

 

VOTED: (Powell/Roach) Voted to approve the Regular Session Minutes of November 4, 2010

 

APPROVAL OF BANNER REQUESTS

 

VOTED: (Powell/Roach) Voted to approve the banner request by Temple Israel for January 17th

– January 24th (1st position)

 

VOTED: (Roach/Powell) Voted to approve the banner request by Sharon Lacrosse Association for

November 15th – November 22nd (2nd position)

 

APPROVE CHANGE TO THE TOWN OF SHARON TRAFFIC RULES AND ORDERS FOR HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

Chairman Roach explained that Town Engineer Peter O’Cain is recommending a proposed change to the Town of Sharon Traffic Rules and Orders for Heights Elementary School.  Mr. O’Cain is recommending that the Board approve the proposal for additional traffic control signage and single lights flashers on South Main Street, in the area of Heights Elementary School.  He said the hours of flasher operation were determined by the Sharon School Department and the proposed signage and flasher installations have been approved by the Sharon School Committee.  He is also proposing the relocation of two “End School Zone” signs and two “School Zone Ahead” signs.  The Department of Public Works will do the work and the funding for the flashing lights was received from the Community Education Department.  The change was requested by the parents and School Committee.

APPROVAL OF CONFIRMATORY EASEMENT

 

The easement will enable Verizon and NSTAR to supply power and telephone services to the Farnham Road telecommunications tower.

 

VOTED: (Powell/Roach) Voted to allow and sign the confirmatory easement for electrical power and telephone service to the Farnham Road Tower.
